View Original ArticleOn 16th April 2022, HIMSI held one of their programs which is the Leadership Orientation Training or in short LOTr (LDK-A). This program has been one of the prominent programs in HIMSI as it has always been held for the new activists every year without fail. As was with the last three years, this year’s LOTr was also conducted through Zoom since the pandemic is still very much prevalent in Indonesia and the rest of the world. In hope of training the soft skills and to further explain about HIMSI and its divisions to the new 2022 HIMSI activists, we are happy to say that the training for this year was conducted successfully.
The LOTr which was attended by 32 participants in total including the crews, DPI, and new activists, started at 11 a.m. in Zoom with an opening and welcoming speech by the MC, Jawad (a freshman), Miss Jessica (Deputy Head of English Department), Pieter (a junior) as the President of HIMSI for the period of 2021/2022, and lastly by Belsa (a sophomore), the Head of this year’s LOTr event. Later on the event was continued by playing a game called Gartic to break the ice between all the participants.
After the game, the event went on with a presentation by Handiko Wijaya, HIMSI’s current 2022 President where he explained further about HIMSI, its upcoming events in 2022, clubs and new activists divisions within HIMSI. After the presentation, the event then was put on hold for 30 minutes so the participants could take a rest in between sessions. During the break, Suryo (a sophomore) continued HIMSI’s tradition which was started by Nadia (HIMSI’s Secretary for the period of 2021/2022) that open songs request in Zoom. The LOTr resumed with a presentation by Marianne Shania as the Treasurer of HIMSI. She explained HIMSI’s funding and financial report for HIMSI during the month.
For the last session, the hosts created a breakout room in Zoom where the new activists were divided into each of their assigned divisions. Each breakout room was named after the divisions and was led by the division’s coordinator (See people tab for the list of the current HIMSI’s Divisions Coordinator; Ardan, Kety, and Alif were replaced by Suryo, Freya, and Rei). There, the new activists were given 40 minutes to create a new program for their division in HIMSI, which they would later present before all the participants. After 40 minutes in the breakout room, everyone went back to the main room and presented their event ideas, starting from the Education division till the last division, HR. Then we proceeded to wait and let the judges decide which division has the most creative and well prepared event idea.
After a wait of 10 minutes, Jawad finally announced the two winners that were chosen by President Handiko and Treasurer Shania. The winners were the PR and Education Division. This marks the end and success of the 2022 LOTr. Though there were some technical issues while starting the zoom, the event still made it through till the end without any further issues. Congratulations to the new activists of HIMSI for 2022, we hope this year will bring great outcomes for HIMSI and its members. We hope next year, HIMSI could conduct LDK-A offline, and while we’re at it, let’s also hope for the pandemic to come to an end as there might be some possibilities of HIMSI’s events to be held offline with everyone.
